We thought a fun game where everyone is up and active would be a good idea after dinner, so we decided on "Heads and Tails" which is like life-size two-up.

It's pretty easy: everyone stands in a circle (we only just fitted in the hall); everyone selects Heads+Heads, Heads+Tails or Tails+Tails by putting their hands either on their head or bottom and I throw two coins into the air. The people who guess correctly remain in the game, the others sit down.

I had 20 clues to give out. When we got down to 4 remaining players we'd give each one, but we managed to play quite a few games. It was amazing how you could go from 10 players (too many to give clues to) down to just one in one spin!

Eventually all the clues were gone, thankfully the number of clues amongst the teams was fairly even; so they went to their tables and worked on their theories. We'd put coloured pens on the tables and some teams used them in their quite advanced flow charting!

After 10-15 minutes each team could present their theories. Some teams were very shifty in what they did, or rather didn't say. And that was the end of Round One!

Desert was served around the tables, Sandi had made a wonderful array of tiny treats:

  • Brandy Snaps
  • Fruit Flans
  • Apricot kuchen
  • Raspberry Mousse fingers
And then we launched into Round Two...
