A Dux Heat Pump is on its way

I forgot to mention yesterday about our hot water change...

Because our current water heater is 11 years old, and the various Governments are still offering plenty of rebates (currently around $3,600, but the RECs go up and down in value), we've decided to avail ourselves of them by purchasing a new Dux Heat Pump.

Hot Water Rebates was a great place to start, and directed me to a local plumber, who thankfully would sell us any brand.

In the end we're getting a new Heat Pump for under $500!!

My calculations suggest that we should be saving half our current Off Peak 1 costs with the Heat Pump (which will be running on Off Peak 2). :D

We did think about Solar, but as there's a good chance that the roof will be changing if we re-build, it's not viable at the moment: but eventually it'd be great to have some solar panels to boost the Heat Pump.

Heat pumps are always more efficient at heating than pure electric heaters, even when extracting heat from cold winter air.
